What is a valid driving license to rent a car with Seven Stars Rent A Car?

 

It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that he/she at all times holds and carries a valid driving license as per the UAE laws before hiring the vehicle.

  • For U.A.E Resident – U.A.E driving license (should be more than 6 months old)

  • For visitor – International with national license

Is there a minimum age requirement?

 

The minimum age requirement in the UAE for rental customers is normally 25 years of age. Drivers above 25 years of age may also be allowed to rent a car, but extra insurance is mandatory in such cases.

Can anyone drive my rented vehicle apart from myself?

 

Yes. Any additional drivers must be declared as and when required to be added to the rental before the rental commencement and they should comply with the age and driving license requirements. Additional drivers will be charged AED 100. Please check the Terms and Conditions for more details.

What other insurance options are available?

 

The Collision Damage Waiver, or CDW, is optional collision coverage available to customers for an extra fee. The CDW transfers some risks from the car renter to the rental company, reducing responsibility for loss or any damages to the vehicle. It also reduces insurance excess to zero liability, regardless of fault, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement. In case of an accident a police report is mandatory.

What are the basic UAE Traffic Rules ?

 

  • The Traffic system in UAE is designed for Left Hand Drive Vehicles.

  • The speed limit varies between 80 to 140 kmph.

  • All highways & some interior roads are controlled by speed radars

  • Jumping of Red Light and driving on hard shoulder are considered major traffic offences, and attract heavy fines (including imprisonment & impounding of vehicle).

  • It is compulsory for all occupants in a vehicle to wear safety belt.

  • Children below the age of 12 years are not allowed to occupy the front seats.

  • Use of cell phone (without hands-free) while driving is an offence liable for being fined.

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.

What should I do during an accident?

 

In the unforeseen circumstances of your vehicle being involved in an accident please note that the vehicle should not be moved from the point of the accident or damage, except in the case where the damage is minor and the vehicle is causing an obstruction to the traffic. You will then call the police (999) and remain with the vehicle in order to obtain a police report. Once you received the police report inform the same to Seven Stars Rent A Car (Tel: +9712671816 / +97126713131).

 

Important note: It is the hirer’s responsibility to provide a complete police report. Failure to obtain a police report means that no claim can be made against the insurance policy; therefore the client is liable to pay for the full cost of repair even if CDW cover has been taken.

What's the rental time period for daily rentals?

 

Seven Stars Rent A Car starts counting a rental day at the time of rental pickup. The minimum rental period is 24 hours. Thereafter, there will be a grace period of 29 minutes for the return of the vehicle. The rental charges applicable for exceeding the grace period will be charged on the basis of a full day rental. The rates are subject to change without prior notice.

Can I drive the hired vehicle outside UAE?

Can the car be delivered to my location, for example the hotel I am staying at?

If I want to extend my rental while I have the vehicle, what should I do?

 

If you wish to extend your rental, all you need to do is contact the rental office where you collected the vehicle and they'll do the rest for you.

If I am on a tourist visa what document do I require for car hire?

 

Copy of Passport with visa page,

Copy of International License along with country of origin license

A valid credit card imprint as security along with originals for verification and validation.

How is Parking Fee & Traffic Violations calculated?

 

Parking fee to be paid directly by customers at parking meters. Drivers are expected to abide with the traffic rules and regulations. All fines incurred by the vehicle while in possession of the customer will be charged to the customer. Also for every traffic fine incurred, you will be charged extra 10% to cover administration charges.

Does SSRC accept International Driving Permits?

 

SSRC accepts international driving licenses issued by the Country of origin. However, an International Driving Permit is not acceptable without the driver's license of the issuing country.

Should I bring a child seat with me or will the rental location furnish one?

 

The decision is yours. Traffic safety rules require children under a certain age to be secured in child seats. The rental company can make available child seats at an additional cost if you place your request at the reservation time. You should know that child seats are not items we can guarantee unless they are confirmed together with your car reservation.
